SERVICES:
Jessica’s holistic approach to massage incorporates
a variety of modalities that are used during each session,
depending on the client’s specific needs. Below you will
find a brief overview of some of her techniques.
Swedish:
Swedish massage involves the use of hands, forearms or elbows to manipulate the superficial layers of the muscles to improve mental and physical health. Active or passive movement of the joints may also be part of the massage. The benefits of Swedish massage include increased circulation, mental and physical relaxation, decreased stress and muscle tension,
and improved range of motion.
Deep Tissue:
Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. Some of the same strokes are used as Swedish massage, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders.
Sports:
Sports massage is designed to help athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recover after a big event, or function well during training. But you don't have to be an athlete to benefit from sports massage. The main purpose of sports massage is to help alleviate the stress and tension which builds up in the body’s soft tissues during physical activity. Where minor injuries and lesions occur, due to overexertion and/or overuse, massage can break them down quickly and effectively.
Prenatal:
Prenatal Massage is a form of therapeutic bodywork that is geared to meet the unique needs of the pregnant woman. It is performed by comfortably positioning the pregnant woman on her side with the support of pillows and draping. Helping to relieve sciatic nerve pain and multiple other conditions experienced during pregnancy, prenatal massage is an effective therapy for helping to calm, and promote overall wellbeing.
Infant Massage:
Infant massage is a beautiful and loving way to begin a lifelong relationship. This is an hour long instructional session with you and your baby, designed to teach you the gift of ancient, gentle massage. Infant massage benefits both parent and baby, ranging from relieving the discomfort of teething, constipation and colic to improving sleep, sensory awareness, digestion and circulation. Massage also enhances non-verbal communication and deepens the parent/child bond. Group classes also available.
