Although the holidays can be challenging for me, having lost most of my family around this time of year, I do love this season to just chill, connect with people I love and reflect on the last 12 months.
2015 was filled with a ton of progress, a lot of failure and a great loss…
- I created solid structures in both of my businesses, hired my first employee and signed up with my first high-end business coach.
- I met my dad’s brother for the first time, learned about my rich family history that dates back to the creation of the US and reunited with an estranged sibling.
- I also cared for, loved and assisted my father in his final transition of this life.
This year certainly didn’t look the way I thought it would, but I know it unraveled exactly the way Spirit intended. And I know that everything that happened this year was in preparation for all that I hope to create in my life. So, I’m grateful for it all.
If life rarely goes the way you plan, is goal setting pointless?
Hell no! Getting clear about what you want out of life and setting intentions to move forward are powerful ways to connect with your deepest desires and generate excitement about your future!
It’s the timing of things that can make you feel defeated. You just have to remember that everything is divinely timed and the universe is always conspiring in your favor.
Here’s my Secret Recipe for Starting 2016 with Inspired Vision!
Step 1: Complete 2015
This is a very important step and one that most of us like to skip over. We want to go straight to the fun part of creation, but we first need a solid foundation of integrity to stand upon.
Be honest, how many times have you declared the same resolution again and again? I think I probably declared “Getting Fit” for 10 years in a row! (still working on that one) Lol!
Getting complete provides an opportunity to come clean and get present to all that you created and failed to create during the year.
Did you start the year with a goal to work out 5 times a week and ended up working out twice a week? Did you have goal to make $10,000 more than the previous year, but you actually made $20,000 more?
This is not about judgement or making yourself wrong for not having done all that you said. This is just about getting clear with what’s so.
“I said X and I did Y.” That’s it!
Step 2: Create 2016
Here’s where you get to have some real fun! What do you want your life to look like this year? Do you want to buy a new home or start a new business? Do you want to feel sexy and full of vitality? Are you yearning for connection and love?
Take some time to write everything your heart desires. Allow yourself to flow freely without judgement. Your monkey mind might have a lot to say as you write out your dreams. Simply thank it for sharing and continue to write.
After you’ve gotten it all down on paper, now’s the time to circle commonalities and take notes. Maybe you saw the word “love” three times. Circle it. Maybe you notice a feeling of freedom as you read. Make a note of it.
Now write down all of your goals and intentions as present tense declarations!
- “I am in love with life!”
- “I make $5,000 a week!”
- “I am fit and gorgeous!”
Step 3: Make a Vision Board
This is where you get to access your creative side and dive deeply into your subconscious. Look at all the declarations you wrote out for the year and create a collage that represents them.
This vision board will be your inspiration to draw upon as the months progress.
All you need are some old magazines, scissors, glue and a poster board. Leaf through the magazines and rip out all of the images that inspire you. Cut them nicely and glue them to your board. This can be as long and detailed or as fast and furious as you’d like it to be.
